Just Brunch

There are many reasons why I heart New York.
One of them is brunch. Brunch in New York is not just eggs and toast at your local diner. Brunch is an event. The ideal reservation time is 2pm, which some find absurd. If I try to convince friends/family in Dallas or California to do brunch at 2pm… they immedaitely bark back “Steffi, that’s called LUNCH!”. Which is true… because in other cities, you’ve already run 5 miles, read the paper, walked the dog, made breakfast from scratch, washed your car, and stopped at Starbucks to visit with friends over a latte. By the time 2pm rolls around, you are ready for lunch.
New York is different. Although some do have productive mornings and others enjoy their zzzzz’s… brunch is an event.
And brunch at Bagatelle is an experience. Now I have learned from trial and error, that one must get dressed for the day with options for last minute weather changes when you leave the house for “only brunch” because so often, the day continues into the evening. And just for the record, the dress code at Bagatelle is uber-chic.
I have had my fair share of fun brunch parties in New York, however, brunch at Bagatelle takes the cake. I was in heaven! I kept thinking, this is why I want to move back to this city. I love that everyone cuts loose, shakes their tail feathers and lives in the moment. It probably helps that the crowd is primarily non-American because most Americans are not the first to get the dance party started. But why not!? Why not celebrate life!?

The person you are describing in the middle of your first paragraph, are you referring to your “father”??
